We offer financial incentives and technical support through our Custom Energy Solutions Program. We take a systems approach to optimizing your energy needs.
Performance-based financial incentives of $0.15/kWh and $0.30 m3 of annual energy saved are available.
All projects that save energy will be considered. Projects must focus on end-use systems such as compressed air, pumps and fans, industrial refrigeration, process heating, and plant-wide energy management.
Energy efficiency projects must result in lower energy consumption and improved system performance.
Renovation projects, energy efficiency upgrade projects, and systems installed in new facilities or expansions are eligible.

Lower your energy bills and make your home more comfortable by getting free or subsidized energy efficient upgrades. This program is designed to help low- to- moderate income Red River Métis homeowners and renters save on their energy bills by providing affordable energy efficiency upgrades for their home. If you’re renting a home, we can work with your landlord to have energy efficiency upgrades completed in the house you’re living in.
Efficiency Manitoba is partnering with the Manitoba Métis Federation to help raise awareness of these offers.

Once approved, we’ll set up a free home energy check-up to identify all the eligible upgrades in your home to help you save energy.
WE PLAN
Start saving immediately with free installation of energy saving devices and get your home heating system and insulation levels assessed for potential upgrades. If your home qualifies for a heating system upgrade or an insulation upgrade, our team of professionals will help coordinate everything and connect you with our registered contractors to complete the recommended energy efficiency upgrades.

The cost of our furnace and insulation upgrades are entirely covered through the program and our partnership with MMF. Now it’s time to lower energy bills, enjoy the energy savings, and a more comfortable home.
Offering energy efficiency programs to Manitobans is what we do best, and partnerships play a big role in our work to help Manitobans save energy. These partnerships help us reach all Manitobans for their energy-savings needs.
Your home may not have enough insulation, especially if it was built before 1999. Adding insulation to your home will help reduce your energy bills and improve the comfort of your living space. We provide rebates for qualifying attics, walls, and foundation walls.
Steps to Participate
QUALIFY
Find out if your home and project are eligible. Then, apply through a registered contractor or retailer. Your contractor or retailer will help you fill out the application and submit it to us for approval. Be sure to receive approval before purchasing materials or starting any work including removing drywall, stucco, or insulation. A pre-verification inspection at your home might also be required. Check out our online supplier directory to find a registered contractor or retailer in your area.
INSULATE
Once your application is approved, purchase and install your insulation. Your materials must be purchased from the contractor or retailer you were approved with. You have 12 months to do so from the date your application was approved.
GET A REBATE
After your insulation is fully installed and paid for, your contractor or retailer will help you complete and submit the final documents. Keep a copy of all receipts and invoices. Once we’ve received your documents, we’llfinalize your rebate amount based on your application and invoicing and send you your rebate cheque. A post-verification inspection may be required to finalize your rebate amount.
DO YOU QUALIFY?
You’re the homeowner with an active Manitoba Hydro account in your name.
The home is your primary residence or the primary residence of your tenant and is occupied year-round.
You haven’t started the insulation work yet, purchased materials, or removed any drywall, stucco, or insulation.
Your home hasn’t previously received a rebate for the area you’re applying for.
Garages, three-season sunrooms, porches, or verandas
Seasonal homes, cottages, or cottage conversions
Projects that replace existing insulation
Apartments, vacation rentals, or outbuildings
Converting unheated spaces to heated spaces
Projects that are in progress or are already complete
Mobile home skirting
INSULATION REQUIREMENTS
To qualify for a rebate, projects must be a minimum of 100 square feet per area and meet the original and final R-value requirements. Rebates are calculated based on the formulas outlined in the following table. Rebates won’t exceed the insulation material cost required for the project (including tax).
Insulation materials must have thermal properties (R-value) in accordance with current recognized Canadian standards prepared by the Construction Materials Centre (CCMC). Rebates are calculated based on the R-values from the CCMC reports. Reports by other third-party agencies must be approved by Efficiency Manitoba to determine eligibility.
SUPPLIER BONUS
We’re currently offering a $100 supplier bonus to registered suppliers for every eligible Home Insulation Rebate application they complete on behalf of a customer.
*Only one supplier bonus will be paid per project address.
If you’re interested in financing your insulation project, you can apply for Manitoba Hydro’s Home Energy Efficiency Loan in addition to receiving a rebate from Efficiency Manitoba. Be sure to apply for financing before you start any work, including purchasing products.

Our New Homes Program has been designed to align with the published building code wherever possible. We use the same language, measurements, and classifications to ensure consistency between the building code and our program requirements, making it easier for builders to participate in our program and prepare for the future adoption of higher energy performance tiers.
Your rebate is based on two factors:
Whether the conditioned volume of the home is greater than or less than 300 m³;
Work with an energy advisor on your home’s energy design. Your project’s estimated energy improvementover the minimum energy code must be25% or more in order to qualify for rebates.

When your home is complete, we’ll conduct a free in-home evaluation whichincludes airtightness testing.

Homes that are Certified Energy Efficient through the New Homes Program are automatically eligible for a 25% mortgage insurance premium refund from Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), Sagen and Canada Guaranty.
Builders who commit to meeting minimum Certified Energy Efficient standards on all their new homes can apply for status as an Efficiency Manitoba Preferred Builder.

PARTICIPATING BUILDERS
Builders who have successfully built at least three Certified Energy Efficient new homes can apply for status as an Efficiency Manitoba Participating Builder.

You submit an application and receive approval before the equipment is ordered and work begins.
The installation is a retrofit project.
The equipment is intended for a commercial or agricultural HVAC application.
The variable flow pump and fan systems are:
100 HP or less;
installed permanently;
estimated to operate a minimum 1,600 hours annually;
used for ventilation and/or pumping projects; and
applied to variable flow projects.
How to Participate
APPLY THROUGH A REGISTERED CONTRACTOR
Your contractor will evaluate your facility and help you decide which variable flow pump and fan is best for your application. Apply through your contractor before the equipment is purchased or installed. Log in to myEM to apply.
INSTALL YOUR SYSTEM
Once you receive approval through your contractor, the project can begin!
RECEIVE YOUR REBATE
Once your equipment is installed in compliance with Canadian Electrical Code requirements and passes final inspections, submit your itemized invoices through myEM. We’ll review your application and send you your rebate.

If you’re managing the design and construction of your new home, you can apply to our New Homes Program. An energy advisor will work with you to estimate the energy performance of your project and provide recommendations to help you maximize your rebate.

We offer financial incentives for businesses in the commercial, industrial, and agricultural sectors who complete energy-efficient lighting upgrades in their buildings. Customer & Supplier Bonuses Extended Another Year!
We recognize that since March 2020 it’s been difficult to initiate and complete energy efficient lighting projects. We want to do our part to help stimulate the economic recovery of Manitoba businesses and are offering bonuses to customers and suppliers who participate in the Business Lighting Program.
CUSTOMER BONUS
We’re increasing our current incentives by 25% for applications completed by the customer before March 31, 2025.
SUPPLIER BONUS
We’re giving a $100 bonus for every* application completed on behalf of the customer before March 31, 2025.
