INSTALL ONE & SAVE

Save energy, stay comfortable, and get a $50 rebate when you purchase and install an ENERGY STAR® certified smart thermostat. These Wi-Fi connected devices can be set up to automatically adjust your home’s temperature based on your schedule, helping you reduce your energy bills and improve your home’s comfort. Many smart thermostats can also be controlled from your phone, so you can manage your home’s comfort from anywhere.

Check to see if you qualify, then buy and install an eligible smart thermostat and apply for your rebate.

STEPS TO PARTICIPATE

  1. CHECK TO SEE IF YOU QUALIFY

    Read the eligibility information to see if you qualify for a rebate.
    You may qualify for a free smart thermostat through one of our income-based or Indigenous offers. Check if you’re eligible through our Energy Efficiency Assistance Program, Métis Energy Efficiency Offers, or First Nation Energy Efficiency Program. If you rent an apartment suite or manage an apartment building, check out our In-Suite Energy Efficiency Program.

  2. BUY & INSTALL ELIGIBLE PRODUCTS

    Rebates are available for eligible ENERGY STAR certified smart thermostats that are new or certified refurbished, and purchased in Canada from a retailer or contractorMake sure you install your products before applying for a rebate. Keep your receipt and product model number until you’ve received your rebate as we may ask for photos to verify product information.

    Remember to check that the smart thermostat you purchase is compatible with your current systemIf you’re planning to upgrade your heating system, consider waiting to purchase a smart thermostat to ensure compatibility.

  3. APPLY FOR YOUR REBATE

    Fill out our online application form and attach your supporting receipt to apply for your rebate. Please install your thermostat and apply within 90 days of buying itYou can also contact us for a paper application. 

Keep in mind, every smart thermostat manufacturer has its own setup instructions, installation requirements, and features. Be sure to check out your thermostat’s user manual or website to find out what’s unique to your product and remember to consult your local authority having jurisdiction (Manitoba Hydro or the City of Winnipeg) for any specific safety regulations that may apply to your install.

DO YOU QUALIFY?

  • Your smart thermostat must be ENERGY STAR certified and listed on our eligible product list
  • Your application and receipt are received within 90 days of buying the product. 
  • Your products are being installed in your or your tenant’s primary residence, or in a cottage heated year-round. 

PROJECTS THAT AREN’T ELIGIBLE

  • Seasonal residences, apartments, vacation rentals, unoccupied homes, commercial properties, garages, or outbuildings. 
  • New home builds that won’t be occupied within six months of the submitted application. 
  • Line voltage smart thermostats aren’t eligible for a rebate.
