HELLO WINTER, HELLO SAVINGS.

COME SAVE WITH US

Do you notice your energy bills starting to climb in the winter? It may come as no surprise, but the majority of the average Manitoban’s energy bill goes towards home heating. By making energy efficiency upgrades now, you can reduce your energy costs year-round — and for years to come!

We offer programs and rebates that can make saving energy and money easy. We’re also your number one resource for expert energy efficiency advice. Follow these energy-saving tips to make this winter your coziest one yet.

KEEP DRAFTS OUT

Keep the chill out of your home by using weatherstripping or caulking around your windows, doors, and electrical outlets to reduce air leakage and save energy. You can also install an insulating kit on the interior sides of your windows; they’re easy to install, relatively inexpensive, and help to reduce drafts.

LET THE LIGHT IN

Keep window curtains and blinds open during the day to take advantage of the sun’s warm rays. Plus, you can use the natural light from outside instead of turning on the lights in your home.

CUT WASTED ENERGY

Even on the coldest nights, a block heater only needs to be turned on for three hours before starting your car. Purchase an outdoor car plug timer to cut all that wasted energy.

BE SMART WITH YOUR THERMOSTAT

Turning your thermostat down by just a few degrees can lead to big savings! Consider programming your thermostat to reduce your indoor air temperature slightly while you’re sleeping or not at home. A Wi-Fi connected smart thermostat can make this even easier.

If you have a ground source or air source heat pump, it’s best to limit temperature setbacks to 1°C or 2°C. These systems work most efficiently and maintain indoor comfort when operating continuously.
