ENERGY EFFICIENCY SOLUTIONS PROVIDE SMART SAVINGS
Our Small Business Program is a cost-effective, turn-key solution for small business owners who are looking to make their businesses more energy efficient and lower their operating costs. Small municipally-owned buildings can also participate in Efficiency Manitoba’s Small Business Program. When the Rural Municipality (RM) of Fisher was looking to make energy efficiency upgrades to their municipal office and fire hall, we were here to help.
THE PROJECT
Approximately 150 kilometers north of Winnipeg lies the RM of Fisher, a thriving community located in the Interlake region of Manitoba. The municipality includes the village of Fisher Branch and hamlets of Hodgson, Broad Valley, and Poplarfield.
In April 2024, the RM of Fisher successfully completed energy efficiency upgrades to their municipal office and attached fire hall with help from our Small Business Program. Through our Basic Upgrade, they received kitchen and bathroom faucet aerators, showerheads, and other energy saving devices — all free of charge. They also proceeded with a Premium Upgrade, which included installing 92 LED linear lamps and three occupancy sensors. We covered 70% of the total material and labour costs.
THE SAVINGS
Because of these upgrades, the RM of Fisher can expect energy bill savings of approximately $275 annually. The building is also expected to save over 5,500 kilowatt-hours of electricity every year.

Are you a small business owner looking to save money and upgrade your business? Our Small Business Program is a full-service solution to help your business become more energy efficient.
Our program offers two levels of upgrades:
- The Basic Upgrade includes free supply and installation of bathroom and kitchen faucet aerators, showerheads, pre-rinse spray valves, and advanced power strips, plus free lighting and attic insulation assessments.
- The Premium Upgrade includes all Basic Upgrades, plus we cover 70% of the material and labour costs for LED linear lamps, specialty LED bulbs, LED exit signs, smart thermostats, lighting controls, and pitched roof insulation.
