ENERGY SAVINGS FOR A SMALL BUSINESS

Our Small Business Program is a turn-key solution for small business owners who are looking to make their businesses more energy efficient and save on their energy bills. We understand it can be difficult to make time for energy efficiency upgrades while running a busy small business, so we make it as easy as possible for Manitoba businesses, like Ste Rose Veterinary Clinic, to get the upgrades they need.

THE PROJECT

Ste Rose Veterinary Clinic is a locally owned practice that has been serving rural Manitoba since 1962, providing trusted care to animals and supporting pet owners and producers in Dauphin, Ste. Rose, Grandview, Gilbert Plains, Mossey River, Lakeshore, and McCreary. When they were looking to improve the energy efficiency in their clinic, we were happy to help! Through our Small Business Program, Ste Rose Veterinary Clinic completed a free Basic Upgrade as their first step. As part of their upgrade, our service provider CLEAResult Canada visited the clinic to install free energy-saving products and complete a lighting and attic insulation assessment. During their assessment, CLEAResult Canada identified lighting upgrades that could be made to improve the clinic’s energy efficiency and lighting quality for both employees and customers. The clinic opted to proceed with the Premium Upgrade, in which 70% of the material and labour costs were covered by Efficiency Manitoba.

They had 146 LED lamps installed, transforming the lighting quality throughout the clinic and helping them lower their energy bills. Since their upgrade, Ste Rose Veterinary Clinic has experienced a noticeable improvement in their day-to-day environment, particularly at the front desk where brighter lighting has reduced headaches and made the space more comfortable to work in.

THE SAVINGS

In total, we provided the clinic with just over $7,000 in incentives to complete their upgrades, which are estimated to save the clinic approximately 5,500 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity annually. This translates to saving roughly $275 annually on their energy bills.

THE SMALL BUSINESS PROGRAM

Our program offers two levels of upgrades:

• Basic Upgrade includes free supply and installation of bathroom and kitchen faucet aerators, showerheads, pre-rinse spray valves, tier 2 advanced power strips, as well as a free lighting and attic insulation assessment. 
• Premium Upgrade includes all Basic Upgrades, plus 70% of the material and installation costs are covered for LED linear lamps, specialty LED bulbs, LED exit signs, smart thermostats, lighting controls, and pitched roof insulation.
