OUTCOMES-BASED FINANCE WITH RAVEN INDIGENOUS OUTCOMES FUNDS
Efficiency Manitoba and Raven Indigenous Outcomes Funds have partnered to support First Nation communities in Manitoba to conduct community-based training, comprehensive home assessments, install ground source and air source heat pumps, and undertake energy efficiency upgrades. Raven uses a social finance tool called a Community-Driven Outcomes Contract (CDOC).
COMMUNITY-DRIVEN OUTCOMES CONTRACT MODEL
TRAINING & CAPACITY BUILDING
- There are many other outcomes generated through this partnership, such as education, training opportunities, and local job creation in the community.
- Working with Indigenous social enterprises, First Nations communities can engage in intensive hands-on training to build capacity to install and maintain ground source heat pump systems and heavy equipment operation.
- Efficiency Manitoba provides financial support for First Nation community members to participate in ground source heat pump installation and maintenance training programs.
- Financial support for training means more First Nation community members can be trained and creates an opportunity to see more ground source heat pumps installed in Manitoba.
- Efficiency Manitoba’s support of training programs provides the opportunity for more Indigenous Manitobans from First Nation communities to be properly trained to install and maintain ground source heat pumps, growing the number of quality, certified installers.
