HOW ENERGY EFFICIENCY UPGRADES ARE TRANSFORMING CONDO LIVING
Are you a property manager, owner, or condo board member of a multi-unit residential building? Our In-Suite Energy Efficiency Program offers opportunities to improve your building’s energy efficiency and reduce its utility bills.
The In-Suite Energy Efficiency Program is a full-service program that helps apartments, townhouses, condominiums, assisted living facilities, and personal care homes across Manitoba reduce their energy consumption and operating costs, benefitting both the residents and the environment.
Our program offers two levels of upgrades:
- Basic Upgrades include bathroom and kitchen faucet aerators, showerheads, shower timers, tier 2 advanced power strips, and other energy-saving items, installed at no cost.
- Premium Upgrades include all Basic Upgrades, plus incentives of up to $250 per suite for smart thermostats and advanced heat recovery ventilator (HRV) controls, installed by a certified electrician.
THE PROJECT
The community at Skyview Terrace Condos, located at 111 Bond Street in Transcona, has always been passionate about saving money and the environment. After learning about our programs, their condo board met at their annual general meeting (AGM), where program brochures were presented to the group.
“We’re always looking for ways to be more energy efficient and save money,” said Heather Kay Rimmer, a condo board member.
The condo board received the green light at the AGM to move forward, so they created an action plan to complete their energy efficiency upgrades. After applying to the program, our service provider CLEAResult got in touch and their energy efficiency upgrades were scheduled. The condo board then sent out two emails to the building’s residents to confirm participation, and a reminder email before the install date. CLEAResult made it easy by providing a notice letter template for them to use.
By participating in our In-Suite Energy Efficiency Program, the condo building was able to reduce the energy and water consumption of their suites.
The 18-suite building received faucet aerators, fridge and freezer thermometer cards, shower timers, window weatherization kits, and showerheads, all free of charge. Several unit owners also opted to get smart thermostats installed in their suites through the Premium Upgrade.
THE SAVINGS
As a result of their upgrades, the residents of Skyview Terrace Condos can expect to save over 13,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity and 1,500 cubic metres of natural gas each year. This translates to just over $1,000 in estimated energy bill savings annually.
At the end of the day, the condo board and the suite owners were left with new energy efficiency upgrades to their suites and the opportunity to continue saving money for years to come.

THE PROCESS
Participating in the program is simple. You apply on our website, and we take care of the rest!
Once you apply and your eligibility is verified, CLEAResult will contact you to go over the process, gather building information, and schedule your Basic Upgrade installation.
When CLEAResult arrives, they’ll complete the Basic Upgrades and assess your eligibility for a Premium Upgrade. For eligible suites who choose to proceed with a Premium Upgrade, CLEAResult will arrange for a certified electrician to complete the installation. We’ll provide incentives of $100 per smart thermostat and $150 per advanced HRV control (up to $250 per suite).
