With two ways to participate, we make building energy efficient homes easier so you can pick the approach that’s right for your project.

The New Homes Program offers more than just a rebate, with:

  • Free third-party air tightness testing and reporting
  • EnerGuide labels and energy use reports for your customers
  • Energy Efficient Certification Efficiency Manitoba
  • Automatic eligibility for mortgage insurance premium refund programs

Prescriptive Path

$1,200 Rebate

  • Apply in just a few simple steps
  • Include ten energy saving upgrades in your project
  • Site signage and energy efficiency marketing materials
  • Receive official certification for your project from Efficiency Manitoba

Performance Path

$1,500 – $12,000
Rebate

  • Work with a certified energy consultant at no cost
  • Use energy modelling software to evaluate options and their impacts
  • Site signage and energy efficiency marketing materials provided
  • Earn performance-based rebates up to $12,000
  • EnerGuide labels and energy use reports for your customer from Natural Resources Canada
  • Receive official certification for your project from Efficiency Manitoba
  • Reports and benchmarking tools

3 Steps To Participate

  1. CHOOSE YOUR PATH

    Choose a participation option that fits your project and goals. Or, contact us so we can recommend the path that will best fit your project.

  2. DESIGN YOUR PROJECT

    Design your project according to the Prescriptive Path Technical Standard, or work with an energy modeller for a more custom approach under the Performance Path. Be sure to send us your Application Form and design drawings before significant work starts on the project.

  3. GET A REBATE

    When the home is complete, we’ll provide an in-home evaluation and third party air tightness testing free of charge. You’ll receive official certification and your rebate shortly after our visit.

Your Project Qualifies If

  • It’s a residential occupancy home or building
  • It has a maximum of 3 storeys, with a footprint no larger than 600m2
  • It’s a new construction project, not an addition or renovation
  • It will use electricity or natural gas from Manitoba Hydro
  • You contact us or apply before work starts

Get Cash Back For Your Customer

Homes certified under the New Homes Program are automatically eligible for a partial mortgage insurance premium refund from Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) and Genworth Canada.

  • Prescriptive Path: 15% premium refund
  • Performance Path: 15 to 25% premium refund
