AIR SOURCE HEAT PUMPS

AIR SOURCE HEAT PUMPS

Air source heat pumps (ASHPs) provide efficient heating and cooling in one unit. They can reduce your electric heating costs by up to 30%.

An ASHP uses a small amount of energy to pull the heat from the outdoor air to warm your home. In the summer months, it works in reverse to push warm air outside to cool your home. This makes them an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly electric heating and cooling system.

REBATES

We offer rebates to make your upgrade easier and more affordable.

They’re calculated as being the lesser of:
  1. Per square foot of floor area heated by an ASHP system.

Centrally ducted$1.30/square foot$1.65/square foot
  1. Per MBH (1,000 BTU/hour) of installed ASHP space heating capacity.

How to Participate

  1. CHOOSE A REGISTERED EFFICIENCY MANITOBA INSTALLER & APPLY

Your installer must be a registered Efficiency Manitoba air source heat pump installer. We recommend browsing our list of registered suppliers, getting several quotes, and checking references before making your choice. Be sure to compare each installer’s proposed design and pay attention to the heat pump heating capacity compared to the square footage of your home. Once you’ve chosen an installer, they’ll lead you through the application process and submit an application on your behalf.

Installer tools and resources are included below to ensure proper sizing.

  2. GET APPROVAL FOR YOUR PROJECT

We’ll issue a written approval and from there, you’ll have one year to purchase and install your heating system. Don’t purchase any materials or start your project until we approve your project.

  3. COMPLETE YOUR PROJECT

Once your heat pump is installed and operating, your installer will submit all applicable permits, licenses, and invoices on your behalf. You’ll sign the completion documents to confirm the heat pump is installed and operational. We’ll review these documents and send you your rebate. We may also contact you to schedule a post-installation inspection of your heat pump.

DO YOU QUALIFY?

  • Your heat pump is replacing an existing electric furnace/boiler, electric baseboards, or natural gas heating system. Homeowners who are converting from fuel oil or propane are also eligible for incentives.
  • Your installer is registered with Efficiency Manitoba.
  • New construction farm buildings may be eligible for incentives. Contact us for more details.

PROJECTS THAT AREN’T ELIGIBLE
