Incentives for new energy-efficient buildings

Design and construct a new, energy efficient commercial, multi-unit residential, or industrial building and receive up to $3.50 per square foot plus another $12,000 toward energy modelling.

Performance Path

  • Get incentives for new commercial construction projects (including additions that adhere to National Energy Code of Canada Buildings (NECB) 2020 Tier 1 and provincial amendments
  • Use integrated design best practices
  • Incorporate building commissioning deliverables
  • Receive an energy efficiency certification for your building from Efficiency Manitoba
  • Get an optional systems manual bonus (an additional 10% on top of the eligible Performance Path incentive amount, up to $12,000)

Does your project qualify?

  • Your project is new construction or addition.
  • Your project follows the National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings 2020 Tier 1 and provincial amendments.
  • You’re applying before the project tender date and before the construction permit issued.
  • Your proposed building is designed to be at least 5% better than the code baseline.

Energy Modelling Assistance Incentive

  1. APPLY

    Complete your Energy Modelling Assistance Incentive application form and send it to us by email. 

    Once accepted, we’ll send you a confirmation email and outline your next steps.

  2. SUBMIT YOUR REPORT

    Submit your design energy modelling report and invoice.

    Before the project’s tender date and before being issued a building permit, you must submit both your design energy modelling report and invoice. The invoice must only be for the relevant energy modelling services.

  3. GET YOUR INCENTIVE

    Once we receive all your documents, we’ll review the modelling report and provide incentives for approved projects.

    Once accepted, we’ll send a confirmation email and outline your next steps.

  2. SUBMIT YOUR DELIVERABLES

    Submit program deliverables throughout the design and construction of your new building.

    We have templates available for most deliverables. For full program requirements and details, refer to the program guide. Once we have all your deliverables, we’ll provide feedback and follow up with questions or comments if applicable.

  3. WE REVIEW ALL SUBMITTED DELIVERABLES

    Once we have all your deliverables, we’ll provide feedback and follow up questions/comments if applicable.

  4. GET YOUR INCENTIVE

    Once approved, we’ll pay your incentives and complete your application.
