GET STARTED WITH A PRE-RETROFIT ENERGUIDE EVALUATION
Are you looking to lower your energy bills or are you planning home renovations? A pre-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation is an easy way to understand how your home uses energy and what upgrades can help you save on your energy bills. An energy-efficient home is more comfortable, more sustainable, and can increase property and resale value!
HOW IT WORKS
When you book a pre-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation, an energy advisor will visit and evaluate your home. They’ll measure and collect detailed information about your home, including:
- the level of airtightness, using a blower door test;
- the insulation levels of walls, ceilings, and basement;
- the number, type, and location of all windows and exterior doors;
- the size and efficiency ratings of space heating, space cooling (air conditioning), and water heating equipment;
- information about any ventilation equipment; and
- any other information relevant to a home’s energy performance.

The energy advisor will identify energy-saving opportunities, making personalized recommendations on energy efficiency upgrades that make sense for you. They’ll also discuss any plans and priorities you may have and answer your questions about energy efficiency upgrades for your home.
Once the evaluation is complete, the energy advisor will send you your pre-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation reports. You can expect to receive them two to three weeks after the evaluation. These reports will include the following:

- An EnerGuide rating and label that demonstrates the energy performance of your home relative to a typical new house.
- A Homeowner Information Sheet (HOIS) that describes your building envelope, your mechanical equipment, and how your home’s energy is used.
- A Renovation Upgrade Report (RUR) that includes a personalized roadmap of upgrades to improve your home’s energy performance.
